Frequently Asked Questions
PDF Patterns
How do digital patterns work?
Digital patterns are sent to you as a PDF file. You can download this file onto your computer, and then print, assemble, and sew! It is so easy! Print from your home computer (which requires you to assemble the pattern) or print at a copy shop (if you want to skip this step). Our print-at-home files will print on both Letter and A4 size paper.
How do I receive my digital pattern?
As soon as you complete your purchase, you will be directed to a page with a download link where you can download your new pattern. You will also receive an email confirming your purchase, with a link to your account. For more information about My Account, please click here. Please be sure to check your junk mail folder if you do not see the email in your inbox.
I cannot find the file after I clicked on the download link. Where did it go?
After you click on the link, the pattern automatically downloads to your computer’s DOWNLOADS folder. Be sure that your web browser is up to date and that your firewalls are set appropriately.
How do I print my digital pattern?
For printing at home, I recommend that you use either Adobe Reader or Apple Preview to open and print the file. They are both free!
Print the FIRST PAGE first and measure the TEST SQUARE to make sure that you are printing at the correct scale. Be sure that your printer settings are set to “no scaling” or “custom fit = 100%”. Use a ruler to measure the TEST SQUARE. When you have your printer on the correct setting, then print the remaining pages, and assemble. See our guide to printing and assembling your PDF pattern here.
How many times can I print the pattern?
You are allowed to download the pattern up to 4 times, and the link is valid for up to 1 year from the date of purchase. I suggest that you save the pattern file either to your desktop or a folder on your computer, or in a cloud based service, such as DropBox. This will allow you to access the file anytime in the future and to reprint the pattern if you need to.
Can I print out the pattern at a copyshop?
All of our patterns are formatted to not only be printed at home but also to be printed at a copyshop, and is quite affordable. All copyshop files can be printed from a PDF program like Adobe reader, Acrobat, or Mac Preview. There is a written disclaimer on the pattern stating that single copy printing is allowed, in the event that the copyshop claims the pattern is protected under copyright.
Can you resend me the download link?
If you lost your files or download link let me know by filling out the contact form. Please include your order number and I’ll do my best to send you a new link. Please note that if you purchased your pattern over a year ago, or have exceeded 4 downloads, I will not be able to resend your pattern.
EU Tax
Why is VAT being charged on my PDF pattern?
As of January 1st, 2015, the European Union introduced a new law stating that EU customers of online digital products will be taxed based on where THEY (the purchaser) live, rather than where the seller lives. As a result, I legally have to charge VAT based on your country that you are purchasing from. You can read more about the VAT regulations here. This applies to digital products, and does not apply to physical products right now.
Returns
Due to the nature of digital files I do not accept returns on our PDF downloadable patterns or products.
